Mia Freedman

Mia Freedman

Mia Freedman began her career doing work experience at Cleo magazine aged 19. Five years later, she became the youngest editor in Cosmopolitan's global empire of 55 titles.

In the seven years she edited Cosmo, Mia took Cosmopolitan to the #1 position in circulation, readership and ad revenue in the young women's market. She was named Editor of the Year by her peers in the Magazine Publishers Association in 2000 and her proudest initiative was her Body Love policy whereby Cosmo banned diets and started including women up to size 16 in every issue. She also launched the successful spin-off titles Cosmo Brides, Cosmo Pregnancy and Cosmo Hair & Beauty. In 2004 Mia was appointed Editor-In-Chief of Cosmopolitan, Cleo and Dolly, which won Magazine of the Year in 2005.

Mia published her first book, The New Black in 2005 and writes a widely acclaimed weekly column in the Sun Herald and the Sunday Age. In 2006 she joined the Nine Network where she is now Creative Director.

On the home-front, Mia is a married mother of two, juggling a baby, an older child and a high-profile career.
