Important message from Richard Bowden to Customers
Release date: 8 May 2009
Understandably, recent media report (The Australian, 08/05/09) that the Federal Government is considering reducing the private health insurance rebate for higher income earners may cause some of our customers concern.
Firstly, let me say that these reports are speculative, and haven't yet been confirmed by the Government. We will know with certainty about any proposed changes following the release of the Federal Government Budget on Tuesday, 12 May.
It's important to note that if this speculation is accurate, the proposed changes will still need to be approved by the Senate, and this can be a lengthy and complex process. Any changes that are made are not likely to be implemented until 1 July 2010, so there is plenty of time for us to fully understand what the proposed changes may mean and what options are available to you.
MBF Australia Ltd is committed to keeping private health insurance affordable for all our customers and we will remain focused on ensuring that our products continue to add great value for everyone.
Finally, I'd like to reassure you that we will keep working actively with the Government and the health care industry to ensure you continue to have choice and access to quality healthcare, and that the strong and effective balance between Australia's public and private systems is maintained.
